Street Graffiti Art Japan

A collection of Colorful Street Art Photographs taken in Nagano City Japan by Jim Atwood Photography at http://www.jimatwood.net.  Graffiti is very popular in Nagano City and in other cities around Japan.  About 17 years ago when I first arrived in Japan I actually saw very little evidence of Graffiti.  However, times have changed and there are certainly more artists about tagging and creating all sorts of interesting artwork on the city streets and walls.  Some is not that great, but most if pretty cool.  This video slideshow collection shows some of my best work with regards to capturing the essence of Street Graffiti in Nagano City, Japan.  Enjoy!

Summertime in Green

A collection of photographs that fall under the theme category of “green” here in Nagano City, Japan. One of the things I often do in photography is to shoot with a specific theme in mind. This could be a color, object, motion, texture, etc. I find shooting for specific colors to be a joy and especially in collecting the photographs over time. Most of the photographs taken in this collection were photographed sometime in the summer or late Spring. I hope you enjoy they slideshow as much as I have enjoyed photographing the scenes within. By the way, “Midori” means “Green” in Japanese. “A Midori Summer in Japan” is by Jim Atwood Photography at http://jimatwood.net.

The traditional white japanese wedding kimono is called shiro-maku. Shiro meaning white and maku meaning pure. The wedding kimono actually consists of two different kimono. The white wedding kimono is worn for the wedding ceremony and an elaborate rich patterned silk brocade kimono called uchikake is worn over the white kimono at the wedding reception.

Jim Atwood English Sensei Japan

A collection of magazine shots and photographs of myself “Jim Atwood” in media print and shows in Tokyo, Japan. Several photos are from magazines and brochures in Japan. Other photos are when I walked the runway in Tokyo fashion shows. I was also a host and an announcer at fashion presentations in Yokohama, Tokyo, and Nagano.

Finally there are some photographs of the many train rides experienced in Japan along with a few in the classroom as an instructor a while back. Very often I was used in magazines, PR situations, on stage for presentations or seminars, and for doing entertainment or hosting shows in Japan. It has always been a great experience to be an active participant in the many opportunities Japan continues to offer.

Sunflowers in Nagano Japan

Sunflowers are starting to bloom here in Japan. There are many around where I live and I think they are quite fabulous to see. They can get pretty big and the yellow is very beautiful. This is just a short clip taken with the Creative Vado HD to give you an idea of how they can be seen in Japan. This particular shot was taken near Nagano city in a residential area. Although these are pretty big, you can actually find sunflowers much bigger than this around the countryside. There are also a lot of bees around them too so you have to be careful.
